Camarillo Chiropractic Care for Expecting Mothers
As I write this post this week I have a handful of patients who are expecting mothers with a due date right around the corner and another handful of patients who just recently unveiled to me they are expecting a new member of the family. I guess there’s no better time to discuss the common ailments of pregnancy and the benefits of chiropractic.
Chiropractic Care For Pregnant Mothers in Camarillo
The first question that is on every mind of every new mom to be is ‘is chiropractic safe for my newborn to be?’ Often times this question, no matter what the topic, will be answered by your OB with the generic diplomatic answer of ‘if you didn’t do it before pregnancy then don’t do during your pregnancy.”
Well, this is not the best answer to all questions. For example, if mommy to be has had chronic back pain before her pregnancy that she battled using aspirin she obviously cannot use the same tactics during pregnancy. The great news is Chiropractic is safe at any stage of pregnancy. No question. In fact, the only concern should be which chiropractor is best for you.
But why would a woman want to see a chiropractor during pregnancy? What can we help? The two areas of concern for pregnancy are a healthy and safe delivery for baby and mom and pain-free 40-week pregnancy.
With regards to a pain-free pregnancy, Chiropractic is not just a great choice but it’s really your only choice. Since no drugs are critical to your healthy growing baby we can throw out any options in the entire branch of an allopath.
Due to the drastic postural changes along with overall weight gain of pregnancy the most common ailments you will seek out chiropractic for are low back pain, more specifically the sacroiliac joint. These two joints will be responsible for major pain in the low back down to the buttocks area.
The joints allow motion between your sacrum and innominate. The movement between these 3 major bones is critical to a healthy delivery process. The other most common ailments would be mid back pain followed by neck and shoulder pain.
Regardless of the pain, I believe chiropractic to be an important part of any mother expecting I deliver their baby naturally. For more information visit Bates Family Chiropractic.
